Hawaii and Guam Concerns; Severe Weather for the Plains; Heavy Snow for Sierra-Nevada

Heavy rainfall capable of causing flash flooding will continue to impact Hawaii through Monday. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible in parts of Texas and the southern Plains and the Upper Great Lakes. Flood Watch in Effect from 1 PM Sunday 4/12 - 7 AM Monday 04/13. Where: Inland Harris, Montgomery, Waller, Burleson, Brazos, Madison, Grimes, Washington, Austin, and Colorado counties. What: Most likely rainfall between 1 - 3 inches, with isolated 3 - 6”+ with any training storms. Rainfall rates of 2-4” per hour possible. Heavy rain may lead to flooding of low-lying areas, rivers/creeks, and roads. A few instances of flash flooding will be possible. Remember, never drive through flooded roadways.
Monday will be warm with highs in the upper 70s/mid 80s. Scattered/isolated showers and storms will be possible with rain chances at 20-40% during the daytime. Overnight conditions will be warm with lows in the upper 60s/lower 70s.
Warm and humid weather is expected to continue with highs in the 70s/80s and lows in the 60s/lower70s. Scattered showers and storms are anticipated today, with rain chances slowly easing down into next week as high pressure pushes in from the east.
For the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast, winds will generally be east to southeasterly around 10-20 knots with gusts around 15-25 knots. Seas will be 3-6 feet. Caution flags may be needed at times. Scattered showers and storms are expected over the weekend, with chances decreasing into next week. Elevated winds will bring a high risk of rip currents.
